Meet Samuel Reilly, co-founder of and THE Rutland Chef. Alongside his wife Mary, this culinary power couple have built a local reputation for being the sweetest around…literally!
After studying professional catering in college together, they first made their local mark at The Olive Branch. But it was after doing stages in Gordon Ramsey's Petrus and Hambleton Bakery that Sam's passion for desserts and sweet treats really took off.
"I decided to take a chance and start my own small business selling my cakes, biscuits, tarts and handcraft chocolates, putting the time and effort into making small batches to ensure every batch is perfect."
With Christmas on the horizon, you may expect bakeries and other similar establishments rolling out the mince pies, but these guys are sooo much more than that. I mean, just take a look at this incredible yule log!

As one of The Rutland Chef's most avid followers, we can safely say their Instagram is streaming with amazing desserts, seasonal delicacies and irresistible fan-favourites that you don't want to miss out on. They even do their own party rings for crying out loud!
"You can really taste the difference from commercially made treats," Sam proudly states. "We even use eggs from our own hens who live free ranging in our back garden. And you can't beat the freshness and taste...It's simply eggcelent!"
It's exactly that charm and wit that makes the passion for his business so infectious. They may have only launched 5 months ago but quality of food provided by The Rutland Chef has a foundation that will last years.
"I love that no day is the same. Being able to offer a personal level of service with my customers, from designing cakes together to delivering the products personally, they reach the customer the same as when they leave the kitchen and with a friendly smile."

White Chocolate and Yoghurt Flapjacks
Of course, we HAD to try them all before they got signed off for The Christmas Box and my goodness! They're faultless! The flapjacks are the best balance of oaty sweetness, the biscotti has the signature snap and the marshmallows! Well, well, well! Where to even begin? Full of flavour, squidgy goodness that melts into a gooey perfection floating on a hot chocolate. How could we possibly miss any of those out?
